| Helmet" type mask carved by Master Carver Songis Lamot of Tatau Island in the Tabar group. This image sat on top of a huge seated "bush"figure composed of rattan and cord with raised arms and hands of wood which personified a mythological character. It would be present at malangan ceremonies. The crest on top of the head represents a hair style worn by young men. This is also represented in the tatanua masks that are danced at funerary rituals. | ||
